Paying taxes: The fiscal 2005 tax rate is $23.53 per $1,000 valuation for commercial, $9.70 for residential. Taxes may be paid at City Hall, 978-794-5840.

Learn to sail: Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program, Eaton Street, open from late June to Labor Day, 978-681-8675. Boats include 38 small Sunfish sailboats, wind surfers, many canoes, 21 kayaks, rowing shells and larger sailboats, some as big as 25 feet, a catamaran and a four-person rowing shell. Rowing classes. Instruction and use of boats for price of membership. Fees: $50 for youth and senior citizens; $100 for individual adult.
