Lineage 2 Classic: beginner guide 1–20 (3)

We have already published the 4game app installation guide and explored the classes in Lineage 2 Classic. So if you have any questions, be sure to check them out. You can also find useful information about creating a character in our database.

But well, let’s imagine you have chosen your destiny and created your avatar. What now? This is a newbie guide for players that have never before played Lineage 2 Classic and are going to start on the European server Skelth.

First of all, welcome to the world of Elmoreden! This is the beginning of a great journey that can lead you to the title of the Lord of Aden, or an Olympiad hero, or… let’s get down to work!

The first thing you see when you enter the world of Lineage 2 is gremlins. They inhabit the starting location of the race that you have chosen. Your first fight will happen here. Select a target and use the quick buttons (F1-F12) on the skills panel to attack the enemy by a skill or handed weapon. If you don’t understand something in the game interface, be sure to read about the basics in l2wiki. There are also in-game beginner tutorials that will be helpful.

New skills and their levels of learning become available as your character level increases. Learning of skills requires SP, which your character gets along with XP for killing monsters and completing quests. The amount of SP is usually not enough to learn just all skills in a row. So you should evaluate what skills to learn in the first place. We recommend studying guides about your character class in order to avoid any mistakes.

You will also receive additional items for achieving levels or fulfilling certain conditions. There are rewards for hunting monsters, participating in sieges, killing raid bosses and more. These awards don’t greatly affect the gaming process, but they will definitely make your gameplay more enjoyable.

We provide special conditions for newbies on Skelth to make your journey more comfortable. Open your inventory, find the “Newbie gift” and use right click to open it. Now you have several types of temporary weapons, an armor set and some other useful items. Every newbie gift contains another box that becomes available when you reach another specific level.

We don’t advise you to open all armor set boxes at once, because as soon as you do this, the countdown time of these items will start running. However, while items remain in boxes, they have no time limit. .

Such equipment is enough to effectively destroy monsters until level 52. Equip your character and you are ready to fight!

Lineage 2 Classic: beginner guide 1–20 (8)

You can go outside of the starting location to beat Keltirs or immediately use the Scroll of escape from the inventory to get into the village and move to other locations.

Note: Adena (game currency) automatically goes to your inventory after the monsters’ death, but items drop out on the ground, so you need to pick them up during monster hunt.

In every town, there are equipment and supplies stores, a bank and a gatekeeper.

You can buy healing, speed, and magic potions in grocery stores. There are also No grade soulshots & spiritshots. Soulshots empower physical attacks, and spiritshots — magic attacks. Learn more about the grades of weapons and armor here.

Once you reach level 20, you will be able to wear D grade armor and weapons. D grade weapons require D grade Soulshots and Spiritshots (SS). Those are crafted by dwarves. So, you can buy such SS from real players. Such players open private stores and form a kind of a market. Players can organize such markets almost anywhere, but traditionally everyone is sitting on the Monster Race Track. You can teleport there for free by speaking to a Gatekeeper in any town.

Pay attention that the recommended levels of locations for hunting monsters are indicated in the gatekeeper’s menu. You can also ask the gatekeeper for a Blessing of Protection (coin icon). It is a special buff that protects newcomers from excessive aggression of high level players. No character that is 10 levels higher than you will be able to attack you.

Lineage 2 Classic: beginner guide 1–20 (13)

Each race has its own basic location where most players go for monster hunt. For the Dark Elven Village, it is the School of Dark Arts. Human race hunts in the Elven Ruins. Cave of Trials is the sacred place of the orcs. The Dwarves’ basic hunting region are the Mithril Mines. Elves fight in the Elven Fortress.

Lineage 2 Classic: beginner guide 1–20 (14)

You can also teleport to The Village of Gludin from the Town of Gludio and hunt in one of the locations nearby. Abandoned Camp or Langk Lizardmen Dwellings will be a good choice.

However, be aware that magic attacking skills have a high chance of failure against monsters that are 3 levels or more higher than your character. The bigger the difference, the higher the chance of failure. In this particular case, you can just use physical weapons and corresponding armor, even if you play a mage character.

You will need to complete a profession quest to change the class at the 20st level. You can find the description of the quest in our database. Just select the class that you want to take and then click on the name of the quest below.

Upon completion the quest, you will be able to learn new class skills, receive some additional items and a certain amount of experience and SP. Keep it up!
