We have over 1,600 cash machines in the UK, and they can do more than show your balance and withdraw money. See our helpful sections below to learn what our cash machines can do for you.

The basics

With our touch screen machines, you can do the following.

  • Withdraw cash.
  • Deposit cash (up to 50 notes at a time).
  • Deposit cheques (up to 30 at a time).
  • Unblock or change your PIN
  • Check and print balances and mini statements.
  • Transfer money between your Santander accounts.
  • Pay bills and people if you’ve set them up as payees previously.
  • Choose to get an email receipt.

These services are available to Santander UK customers. Non-Santander UK customers can withdraw cash, request on-screen balances, and print receipts.

All our cash machines have contactless so you can just tap your card and enter your PIN.

Our cash machines also have voice guidance to help our visually impaired customers. All you need to do is plug in your headphones and you’ll be audibly guided through your transaction. You’ll also be given an option to turn the screen off.

Remember - stay aware, stay safe. Always be mindful of your surroundings and shield your PIN when you use any cash machine.

Cash withdrawals and deposits

Cash withdrawals

We don’t charge a fee for cash withdrawals from Santander cash machines.

Here are our default cash machine limits.

If you have a debit or cash card, we can reduce your daily cash withdrawal limit at the cash machine from the standard £300 to £0 or £60. This may help you to reduce access to cash where your circ*mstances may need it. To arrange this, please speak with us in branch or call us

You can also use your Santander debit card at our cash machines in Spain with no charge (for adult accounts only).

Cash deposits

You can deposit up to 50 notes at a time. You can easily deposit money at one of our cash machines by inserting your card and entering your PIN, then following the steps below.

  1. Choose ‘Cash Deposit’.
  2. Select your account.
  3. Get your notes ready and when you’re ready click ‘I'm ready now’.
  4. Insert the notes.
  5. Press ‘Confirm total’.
  6. Choose your receipt option.

Useful tips

To help avoid issues when depositing cash at our cash machines, take a look at these useful tips:

  • make sure your notes are landscape when inserting them, and
  • don’t use paper clips or rubber bands.

The maximum cash deposit limit across Post Office and cash machines is £2,000. If you wish to pay in more cash you can do this at our branch counters. If one of our cash machines doesn’t credit your account with the funds you deposited, and the branch isn’t open, please contact us

Payments and transfers

Payments

If you’ve already set up a bill payment on your account, you’ll be able to make payments at our cash machines. Simply insert your card, enter your PIN and follow these steps.

  1. Choose ‘Pay someone you'vepaid before’.
  2. If this isn't showing select the red arrow on the right of the screen to go to the next page.
  3. Choose the bill or person you want to pay.
  4. Enter the amount you want to pay.
  5. Make sure the details are correct and then press ‘Confirm’.
  6. Choose your receipt option.

For help and advice on setting up a new payment, please take a look at our payments and transfers page.If you have issues paying bills or people already set up on your account, you may need to speak to a member of staff and activate ‘bill payments’ at a cash machine. You can speak to a member of staff either in your local branch or in the call centres.

Transfers

You can easily transfer money between your Santander accounts at one of our cash machines.Simply insert your card, enter your PIN and follow these steps:

  1. Choose ‘Transfer between your accounts’.
  2. If this isn't showing select the red arrow on the right of the screen to go to the next page.
  3. Choose the accounts you want to transfer from and to.
  4. Enter the amount you want to pay.
  5. Make sure the details are correct and press ‘Confirm’.
  6. Choose your receipt option.
Card captured at a cash machine

If your card is expired or damaged, it could be swallowed by one of our cash machines. This could also happen if there’s a fault with the machine. However, your card won’t be captured if you enter the wrong PIN.

Captured at a non-Santander machine

If your card is captured at a non-Santander machine, the card will be destroyed. You’ll need to report your card as lost and order a new one.

Captured at a Santander machine

If one of our machines captured your Santander card, you might be able to get it back from the branch where the cash machine is located.
